Erna just makes me laugh. For goodness sake, I hope that in my mid-80's I am standing at the front of a large group of successful marketplace leaders, telling them about the most exciting opportunities I see on the horizon. My partner and I own retirement housing and very seldom do we hear someone living with as much of a sense of excitement and possibility as Erna. I love the way God’s strength is most vivid in apparent weakness. Erna’s never been married and yet she has a bigger and more close-knit family than most people with kids and grandkids. She forfeited her early career to serve her mother in poor health, yet she earned three degrees and leap-frogged to become principal in a large school district. Makes me wonder what might happen if I embraced the limitations of my life with a sense of adventure. Erna shows me what it could look like if I pursue a life of significance over the long haul.
